The Medical Assistant – Intake position plays an important part in the daily operation of our TOA clinics. This role partners with our clinical staff and clinical administrative team members to ensure our patients receive excellent service. Our MAs demonstrate a deeply rooted compassion for helping our patients, and a commitment to making sure our operations run smoothly and effectively.
The MA – Intake is focused primarily on the swift and accurate preparation of patient health information into our EHR NextGen system. This important role is critical to making the most of our patients’ visits to a TOA provider. In addition to the Intake responsibilities, this role may be called upon to partner with our physicians to provide standard MA services and functions.
Receives medical information from our Patient Access Representative, and accurately enters f patient information into NextGen, our Electronic Health Record (EHR).
May escort patients from waiting room to exam room, taking patient medical histories, obtaining chief complaints, taking vital signs, preparing patients for examination and treatment, and/or reviewing chart and file for completeness
Assists with the scheduling of tests and treatments, coordinates patients surgeries including scheduling, insurance coverage and pre-certifies surgeries if needed.
Responds to patient and payor phone calls by securing information from physician and/or providing the appropriate information. Screens telephone calls for referral to nurse or physician.
Complies and condenses technical and statistical data for reports and records.
Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.

Graduation from an accredited program for Register and/or Certification Medical Assistants.
A current and unencumbered MA Certification through a sanctioned third-party, such as The American Registry of Medical Assistants, National Healthcareer Association, American Association of Medical Assistants, National Center for Competency Testing, or American Medical Technologists
At least one year experience is preferred, with some experience serving in an Intake capacity, and preferably with NextGen
Exceptional focus on attention to detail, ensuring that all documentation is entered accurately and swiftly
