General Summary:Software Engineers are responsible for the building and/or configuration of software solutions within their business portfolio. Serving as the Senior Administrator and Subject Matter Expert for the InfoSphere DataStage suite, a key component in Unum’s new data warehouse, the primary focus is installing, configuring, and managing the mission-critical InfoSphere DataStage platform running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 Websphere Application Server. The Secondary focus is providing training and mentoring to teammates, and consultation to DataStage developers.

Primary partner with the Service Manager on operational aspects of associated services.
Ensures the operation, control, reporting and continuous improvement of the IT infrastructure (typically hardware, software, data stored on various media, and all equipment within wide and local area networks) required to deliver and support IT services and products to meet the needs of the business.
Accountable for ensuring stability, capacity and performance of IT services. Addresses/adjusts services proactively 7x24 as needed to maintain or exceed service levels to business.
Partners with architects, operations engineers, solutions engineers, and Service Managers to assure new or enhanced services, when implemented, meet or exceed committed service levels and expected cost.
For the accountable services, partner with the Global Services organizations responsible for ITIL Service Management based processes associated with Incident, Problem, Change, Release, Availability, and Release Management.
Collaborates with Infrastructure Architects on the application of agreed upon infrastructure standards, process, tooling and frameworks required for the delivery of associated infrastructure services.
Leverages the implemented architecture aspects of an established infrastructure service to improve delivery of that service.
Works as part of a team that leverages agile approaches to meet business needs at an accelerated pace.
Manages processes, systems and functions to package, build, test and deploy changes successfully into technical infrastructure environments.
Provides specialist expertise to facilitate and execute the installation and maintenance of infrastructure software such as operating systems, data management products, office automation products and other utility software.
Through monitoring, ensures service component availability, capacity and performance actions to resolve any shortfalls according to agreed procedures. Applies techniques to modify demand for a particular resource or service.
Provides ongoing and appropriate coaching and mentorship for Operations Engineers.
Partners closely with and provides technical guidance to Operations Engineers concerning infrastructure services operation, availability and capacity. .
Able to understand technical interdependencies between infrastructure services, and collaborate with resources across technical disciplines.
Acts as the technical lead for the management and interface for all established operational Cloud/Vendor services.
Initiates immediate and permanent resolution to incidents with systems and services, by coordinating the efforts of the resolution team or teams.
Detailed experience installing, managing, and upgrading a complete ETL environment
Performing all facets of DataStage administration
Thorough understanding of high availability, load balancing, and job parallelization best practices in DataStage
Providing leadership in troubleshooting performance issues and creating solutions
Strong knowledge of performance tuning and capacity planning
Automation of system checks, deployments, and other management tasks
Providing technical guidance to DataStage developer
Strong knowledge of DB
Strong knowledge of Linux administration concepts and shell scripting
Knowledge of Websphere Application Serve
Knowledge of application change control best practice
Good team player, and an eagerness to work within a Kanban team
IBM Master Data Manager
Performance tools including HP Diagnostics
Continuous Integration/Deployment tool sets: Jenkins, Artifactory, Puppet, TFS, etc
Bachelors Degree preferred, or equivalent experience
5+ years operational experience for assigned services
Proficient in Corporate, Industry, Professional Standards, e.g., ITIL, and Agile methodology.
Demonstrates strong focus on quality delivery and delighting customers; holds self to high standards of delivery
Strong team player; able to work effectively within a team and more broadly with people from a variety of backgrounds and areas across the organization.
